Welcome to the Local Community Matters website

Welcome to the Local Community Matters website. We aim to promote awareness of Local Community Matters and provide you with the very latest information and links regarding the matter. The task of community development is not only the responsibility of local government, but also of local people, and can include a variety of different activities and functions, from teaching local children to local housing schemes, and even the provision of shelter for local animals. Any society that can boast communities which are willingly served by their inhabitants can happily claim to be a growing and improving society.

What kind of community service or program can you get involved in? What kinds are there in the first place? Many different services play active and critical roles in different sections of the community. Youth is a key sector in any community, and outreach programs and youth development programmes are vitally important. This tends to have a domino effect too: children who have been supported by community youth programs are more likely to go on to want to give something back to community youth programmes themselves, later in life. A society full of integrated and community aware youth is a society whose future is in safe hands, a society assured of future community development leaders. You can make a difference to youth in a number of different ways, via the Girl Guide and Boy Scout movements, via student organizations and through educational institutions directly. We would be glad to hear your thoughts and feedback regarding Local Community Matters.
